World’s Greatest Sleuth! (Holmes on the Range mystery, #5) by Steve Hockensmith

For a series I’d never heard of until last month and one I’d never have read if A Crack in the Lens hadn’t been given to me I’m totally in love with this wise-cracking, sometimes gruff, always charming brother duo of cowboy detectives. It’s so different from most series I read (time & place + characters)  that I believe that’s why I’m so taken with it. World’s Greatest Sleuth! picks up right where A Crack in the Lens leaves off. But here’s one of the great things about this series you don’t need to have read the books in order. You can start with any of them and feel right at home. That said there was a repeat character (but I didn’t need her history) in World’s Greatest Sleuth! who entices me to track down (yep I said it) a copy of  On the Wrong Track so that I can meet the lovely Ms. Diana and find out just why the brothers Amlingmeyer are so infatuated with the lovely female detective. I swear I’d never vote this duo the World’s Greatest Sleuth(s)! for the all bumbling they go through. But the brothers come through following the clues that are cleverly hidden in their stumbling mis-steps. After finishing A Crack in the Lens I put this series on my ‘watch list’. After finishing World’s Greatest Sleuth! I moved this series to my ‘auto-buy list’.
